Hi, I have two questions about the Rice perspective essay.

1) It says two - three double spaced pages, so I'm assuming the word limit is around 600 words. Is this correct? Also, should we upload the essay double spaced? (Most colleges seem to ask for single spaced essays)

2) Can I write about a coach who inspired me? He's changed my perspective a lot, and I think I would bring his attitude to Rice.

Thanks :)

2-3 double spaced pages can be anywhere from 600-900 words, and I don’t think they care if its single or double, but the prompt has the words double spaced in it so I don’t know

1) my essay was well over 600 words. It’s more important to fully answer the question than worry about a word limit.
2) sounds like a great idea! Just make sure it’s obvious that the focus of the essay is on you.

jztimmons is spot on.

The word limit is an approximate. That means that you can write less or more, just do not write one paragraph or 8 pages. Just write what you need to - do not skimp to shorten it and do not try to make it longer than it needs to be.

Sure. Whatever really appeals to you.
