African American Female
And I Attend a top 100 school

I’m also an incoming senior so maybe I’m not the best authority for chancing you. However, you might have a pretty good chance. The difference being that you’re an African-American female which is a really great hook (I’m hispanic…not as great of a hook). You might want to work on your unweighted gpa a little (same problem I have). Aside from that, you have a solid shot.

I think you have a pretty good shot! You are a varsity athlete - have you contacted the coach? They have more pull than you think. Rice is a wonderful school- Good Luck!

I think you’re right in that there’s no point in chancing. But I disagree with the “3.8 and 2100”. Plenty of kids actually get in with lower numbers than those. Especially the GPA one. For example, the original poster of this thread has a lower gpa but probably has a great chance due to being a URM.

I have a low GPA , because in my freshman year I had many family deaths and depression issue that made my grades drop, but I had a steep incline( 4.0 junior year) with a tough high school schedule
