Rice School of Architecture

Rice offers a 5 year B. Arch. program. Is the work ex. requirement included in this duration? Or is it separate?
(It is given on their website that a min. of 9 month work ex. is required)

The time you spend in the preceptorship is above and beyond the five years in school.

Hi Rick,
And is it mandatory?

Not only is it mandatory (at least for the BArch, you can stop with just a four year degree), it is probably the best part of the program. Imagine that after four years they set you up with a paid nine month internship with one of the top firms from around the world, with a good chance of being offered a permanent position after graduation. It is really a unique program. We are in Texas and seldom get any Rice students since so many of them are headed off to the offices where they did their preceptorships.
