Rice University Admissions Help

Hey Guys, I applied to Rice through the Questbridge Scholarship. I did not get matched and on a subsequent website I was sent it stated,
"Yes. If you are not matched and you would like to apply Early Decision to Rice, please complete the Decision Plan Verification Form and check Early Decision." in response to the question, "Can I apply Early Decision" Then I see the deadline for ED is Nov 1st. Can I still switch to ED since the questbridge results came out on the 30th which is later then the deadline of Nov. 1st? Can someone help clarify this, I am confused. Thanks a lot guys!

Some colleges (I know Northwestern and Tufts do this) allow you to enter the ED pool if you are not matched. As far as I know, if you fill out everything they give you, you should receive an Early Decision notification on the same day as all the ED notifications go out. MIT does this with EA if you had ranked them, but did not match.

Just do it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE,
“This student is applying to Rice through QuestBridge and our Early Decision plan. In order for us to better evaluate his or her
application, please complete this form and postmark or fax it to the Office of Admission by November 1, 2012, or as soon as possible after that date.
Our fax number is 713-348-5323.” from the verification form!

For Rice, What does it mean that I have to take two sat subject tests that relate to my major? Like if I want to major in engineering, and I took math level 2 and biology, is that okay??

My son also ranked Rice and did not get matched. He got an email from them today stating that the ED decision was December 5.
