Hey! So I am DREAMING of going to Rice University and I worked really hard on my essays to make them stand out and show how I am unique yet would benefit their collaborative community.
My SAT is a 1490 and my GPA is a 3.96 unweighted.
I am a year ahead and taking all of my senior classes for one semester at a University in Houston and then going abroad for a medical internship second semester in Cordoba Argentina.
So, what are my chance just statistically I guess? I know that it really depends on the persons individual personality.
I have an interview in a month and I’m also wondering what they are going to be asked. I do not want to have automatic robotic responses to their questions because I want to show my true self but I want to be somewhat prepared as to how to answer their questions.
Thank you!
The most important things are to be yourself and to show your interest in Rice. I will ask my daughter if she remembers what kind of questions she was asked at her Rice interview. She interviewed in the admissions office the day after she spent the night on campus for a visit. I believe her interviewer was a current Rice student. Perhaps some current students will chime in here about their interview experiences.
I don’t comment on chances but I think the interview can be as individual as the interviewer. Alumni might ask certain questions, admissions officers/senior interviewers might ask others. I would go in prepared to have a good conversation, and talk about the things you enjoy doing both in and out of school. My daughter brought a resume, but that is not a requirement (the interviewer did look at it and ask questions about it, however). Good luck!
