Hey Guys, so Rice is literally my dream school. I’m from so cal so the idea of moving to Texas is just ideal. Everyday has me growing more anxious and I would just like your opinion. My AP classes are strong, I’m number one in my class, I have a working background, started a club and an internship. However, my scores weren’t the highest. I have a 1980 for my SAT and a 31 on my ACT. Do you think I even have a chance?
@Hopefulcaligirl Rice University has holisitc admissions, so even if your SAT scores are a bit on the lower side, if your AP classes, ECs and other factors are strong enough according to the admission committee, they would accept you. 
Then again, nothing can be said for sure, because the admission process can be really random sometimes xD
Keep your hopes up, and remember that whatever happens, happens for the best. You’ll surely get into a college of your choice, and it very well might even be Rice.
I am an international applicant by the way, so I may not be the best person to give my opinion, given that I have been familiar with the admission process for just about a year now, and that too only from reading stuff on the internet. xD But I think others would most probably agree to my views.
@Hopefulcaligirl blaze dragon is right. These top schools don’t just consider test scores. The schools understand that you’re human and whatever you have lower, you have to make up for in other areas such as extra circulars! don’t worry, test scores dont mean anything. After all, a 1980 from a 2200 is literally what? maybe 8 questions? Yeah, the admission officers are aware of that. @blazedragon so we meet again lol.

Yup, I have about 8-9 tabs of CC open constantly and sometimes I drop by to read a few (okay, to be honest, ALL) the posts here, and end up commenting sometimes too xD

Oh my goodness, me too. I was rejected from Stanford early decision and that killed me. I told myself not to get my hopes up again but they are higher than ever. @co2020p
For my “The Box” I wrote the name of every person that I wanted to thank for my past successes on a post it note and then made the rice logo on my wall with the post it notes. It took me quite a while and I ended up making a youtube video about it and adding the link on my application so the person reading could see it so I hope that it’s at least considered in the application
Has anyone tried using myUSPS (not UPS). Someone said that they received a package from northern Houston
So is that a no? They also received a package from NC that was transferred to KY. So they assumed it was from Duke. I just want to see if it’s a credible source

I put in a picture of some jollof rice oh so nicely topped with dodo in my box. If you’re African, you will completely relate. But then again, I hear whatever you put in the box is not so important. I’m not too sure so please don’t quote me.

Is anyone else freaking out? I’ve been stress cleaning and cooking for days now! I’m pretty sure I could feed an army. Anyone else out there panicking??!
