Just wondering, what did everyone do for “the box” supplement. I have heard of some very creative things and just want to know how everyone else approached it!
@lovecollege2020 I put in a picture of a fucked up box. It looks like a box, but it isn’t because one edge comes over the box.
Does anyone know how to check financial aid status for Rice?
@lovecollege2020 I have applied for an astrophysics major, and to show my passion for the subject, I put a picture of the Earth, as captured by the Voyager 1 in 1990, the famous “Pale Blue Dot” picture; with Carl Sagan’s famous speech printed over it. 
I love the pic, so I just sent it for the sake of it.
@graceann I guess the ESTHER thing is for that purpose? As far as I know, it was supposed to help us track the financial aid we might receive.
@lovecollege2020 Lol, look up “passionate sax player and very emotional listeners”. The first image is what I put into The Box. I didn’t put much thought into it because when I went to Rice for a visit a current student told me that it didn’t count for all that much. They put a picture of Beyonce. But being very much into jazz and an avid sax player myself, I gave them that photo.
Also, did anyone else in this thread get invited to the VISION 2016 event? I went and had a blast, and a few students told us that VISION participants were pretty much already accepted, so I’m excited for decisions to come in 
For my box I made a periodic table of elements and for each box I put a picture of something I enjoyed or was a part of me. I put a good bit of time into but it came out looking awesome so even if it doesn’t count for much it was worth it. 
S has kept the same mysterious image as his screen saver since 9th grade, calls the creature Billy. He used that image because it’s truly something that brings him joy. I discovered “Billy’s” true identity shortly afterwards. Google taxidermied deer butt and he’s generally the 12th image. My son is so strange.
Does anyone have any guesses on a possible release date?

@asiankid88 The only thing colleges care about in the end is your money and their prestige. All this talent thing is so that they seem more prestigious and selective.
If you go to VISION is it likely that you’ll get accepted?

@ScazyBoy - I don’t have any money and I have been accepted by many schools… go figure!
I’ve never visited but from what I know, I would love to go to Rice. Damn, I’m obsessed with the competitive liberal arts privates (like Rice, Duke, Wash U St. Louis, Brown, etc) and I hate myself for it b/c when I get rejected, I’m going to be so disappointed. I got into UCLA last Saturday but I honestly couldn’t even feel excited about it b/c I’m set on not going to a public school. My truest struggle: setting my sights and standards too high, and then letting myself get emotionally attached. The next two weeks are going to be the death of me.
That is exactly how I feel. I also got accepted to UCLA but am hoping for Rice Duke and Brown. @co2020p
My dad is a professor at Rice, and today he asked the admissions people when decisions would be released. They would not tell him the exact date, but they said “sometime next week.”
Well my college counselor is talking to a Rice rep tomorrow for me. Basically she’s gonna know if I’ve gotten in or not. Wish me luck. I may go to her office tomorrow and see if I can figure out my application decision by her attitude.
