Thank you!

thank you!

Has Rice been emailing y’all regularly since you applied? Like emails about their programs etc? I’ve been getting lots of emails from them which seems like a good sign, but I don’t want to read into it to much in case these emails are just sent to everyone.

I think those emails are sent to everyone so I wouldn’t read anything into it. I hope you do receive good news on Tuesday!

I see a couple of students accepted to UMass Amherst. Any opinions on UMass Amherst vs. Northeastern for CS? Aside from Rice, these are the top contenders for one of my twin sons. Northeastern’s Co-op seems to give it an advantage.

Any parents here receive email correspondents from Rice (topics such as Rice=Research, Owls are better together, Serving Up Deliciousness at Rice, Advising your students will really use)?

I did!

I’m sure there’s a chain on this. Both are solid I believe. Honestly you can go anywhere for CS and be ok. I’d imagine $ matter. Are you in state etc ? I’d prob lean Neastern if all equal and you like the city.

Yes are you in state? I am in Mass and hear good things about CS at Umass. Northeastern is very popular at our high school. Good luck hard to pick a school this year!

My older daughter attends Northeastern. The coop program is amazing! She’ll graduate with 1.5 years of job experience (3 co-ops) 3 years of a great education. Two experiences abroad. A Roth IRA, a brokerage account and plenty of money in her bank account… Those co-ops pay well!

Thanks for the input! It’s always nice to hear first hand about these colleges.

My niece also attended northeastern. He is in business (banking investment is his passion) My niece also attended northeastern. He is in business (banking investment is his passion). He is in Chicago for his second internship. It pays really well. He is able to work extra hours. . He is in Chicago for his second internship. It pays really well. He is able to work extra hours. He too has a Roth IRA and investment account. He is planning to support his younger sibling for college. Kind of amazing. Also northeastern allows you to credit tons of APs. So AP kids normally can finish course work in 2 1/2 to 3 years to do at least 2 6 months long internship. Depends on how many APs you have. That said, for some reasons, CS internships are not as easy to find and seems to get paid lower. At least that’s the situation he knows. My son is admitted to Northeastern CS too. Waitlisted on U mass.

Does Rice send out any priority decisions for regular decisions? I heard from my mom that two of her friend’s kids got in through regular decisions and not ED. Is there anything like that? I told her the decisions come out on March 30th. So confused, did any of you get accepted in RD?

Are they athletes? Sometimes athletes sign letters of intent so they know they are getting in.

No they are not.

I do not believe Rice has released any RD decisions yet. Rice did admit a large number in ED, and as stated above, there may be RD athletes that signed letters of intent.

Yeah, agree. My mom thinks they must be bragging.

Do you thinnk they send to everyone?

If you go to the portal and change tab=status to tab=events does everyone see the facebook group?
