im a finalist for a full-scholarship to davidson, do you think if i got this rice would give me any money to go there instead?

either way, rice v. davidson, what's better for what (and i'm not talking about rankings)

yeah do you have any idea what you want to do? rice is not much larger than davidson but its research opportunities are much greater. also i dont think davidson even has an engineering department, but im not sure. if you ever thought about being an engineer or taking those classes, you might want to at least have that as a possibility.

research psychology and philosophy

socially what are the differences aside from the residential college system/frats ?

Rice has more qualified applicants than they have spaces in the freshman class. If you go to Davidson because they offer you a full-scholarship, Rice would go to the next person on the deferred list to take your place.

Bratonthebeat, Davidson is a great school. If you get a scholarship there, you should seriously consider it. I am assuming you are waiting for a Rice RD decision, correct? Rice doesn't give out much merit aid. It is a great school, but so is Rice. Have you visited either? We visited Davidson last spring with our S and loved it. Davidson was too small for our S although it is about the same size as Rice. Our S was accepted to Rice ID. If you were already accepted ID to Rice, I don't think Rice will offer you any more aid if you try to use a Davidson scholarship as a bargaining chip, though it never hurts to ask. Good luck!
