Hi!
Have you waitlisted students heard from Rice? There’s not much data for the past few years but going back to 2014, Waitlist candidates started getting calls for acceptance as early as April 23rd. Please post if you hear back with updates.

I was just looking for a Rice waitlist thread! I’ve been anxiously waiting for any calls as well. I don’t think they’ve started releasing any acceptances as of now.

I believe that they have started emailing people already. Anyone get lucky yet?

rice is overenrolled again this year. they’re hoping to get some people to drop out of their class (from other waitlists) to open up some space. they’re likely sending out emails to WL students next week. sorry guys :frowning:

Above may be true considering that Rice has not yet released their transfer admit results - way past the normal date on which they release those.

I heard differently. When I called yesterday the admissions person told me that they have started moving people off
waitlist and notifying them by email. The order being followed is by various schools. She said it may close anytime between now and July 1

@MedSciBud Hey there! Do you think that an overenrolled freshman class will have any negative effect on how many transfer students they admit? The anxiety is real over on the transfer thread and the last thing we need is another factor to make being admitted even more impossible :frowning:

@AGoodFloridian - I am not an expert in this field by any means. But first, I don’t know if the over-enrollment news is true (it was posted by a first time CC poster). My post #6 above was just a speculation. I realize now that I should not have posted that.

Also, like someone pointed out in the transfer thread, there should be no direct correlation between freshman over-enrollment this year and transfers this year. If they have been over-enrolled for multiple years, housing etc may be an issue.
