I'm really glad to hear these responses. I was so worried that if I got into USC (like everyone else, I'm still waiting for a reply) I would totally hate it there because of everything I had heard about it. I'm not worried about kids having money. Like I said, I do come from a pretty wealthy area so I've pretty much grown up around that. I was just worried that everyone would be snobby, unfriendly, etc. unless you are blonde, big boobed, and drive a sports car. It's comforting to know that the university of spoiled children steryotype ended a couple years ago.

Again, DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE RUMORS ABOUT VANDERBILT AND UMIAMI ARE TRUE????

I'm sure it might be kind of like USC at those schools too, but I'm just wondering what your thinking is.

As a current student at the University of Miami, the rumors are true. However, I should not forget to mention that there are still plenty of down-to-earth individuals who are on scholarship and come from middle-class families, but they take a lot of time and patience to find.

My daughter met a Vandy admissions counselor at a college night and very much liked what she heard. Several people we know encouraged her and she was all set to apply there. But she took one look at the prepsters on Vandy's website, and decided not to apply.

BruinsJEW:: I find it really interesting that you think the steryotype for miami is true. Like USC, I had heard a lot about the people there being concerned with only money and image. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of area did you come from? Did you come from a middle class area? Or did you come from a wealthier area? I'm just asking because I really did like Miami when I went to visit it. I come from a pretty wealthy area, so I'm thinking maybe that all the wealth at Miami might be just like it was at my high school, and therefore, not really affect me.

Senior's Dad: Your daughter decided not to apply just because of the Vandy website?? wow. Are you talking about the official vanderbilt website? Because I didn't think it was all that preppy...just my opinion.

StevenWheatland:: Hahha, I actually understand where you're coming from. I would definitely much rather be at a school with people who have money. The upside about it is rich kids have connections, as snobby as that sounds.

dude:p
im fairly certain that stevenwheatland was being sarcastic :p
but you do have a fair point, going to school with rich kids and making friends with them can open doors that many people only dream about.. rich people have a lot of opportunities that others dont.. and call me an ass, but its true.. seriously, there are 2 things that make this world go around, money and connections(and sex ofc :p)
