very interesting site. also tells which college each person went to. since people in this site are so into "good college = success" someone want to see how many of the 100 richest people went to ivies (drop outs count)?

it's about time I think about dropping out......

I didn't realize Gerald Ford was a billionaire...

What in God's name would one do with all of that money?

I often wonder why so many of these billionaires actually get up every day and go to work... I guess shopping all day it gets boring after awhile.

Actually, I thought it was really encouraging to see the large number of relatively young people(under 65yrs) listed. I took it to mean that they were bright, and had developed some aspect of business that paid off financially.

Fider et Ratio, that's what I was thinking too! Well, what I wonder is what really motivates them to go on trying to make 'more' money!

Among all, I was surprised at seeing Roman Abrahomovich (I probably misspelled the name!) I really show complete respect to his brave move w/ Chelsea, defnitely he has done a phenomenal job w/ Chelsea!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_J._Ford

The billionaire Ford is not our former president.

In fact, have we ever had any presidents who have been billionaires?

bill gates has donated 27 billion dollars to research foundations and schools worldwide. we need billionaires like that.

people don't go to ivies to become the richest people in the world, they go there because that is the "best" education they can get, which not only helps their knowledge but also helps when it comes to impressing people.

Roman Abramovich has jeopardized the state of football transfer.

Winning trophies is important, but the love of football itself should be the main priority for any owner.

Overpriced tickets, skewed transfer market, and manipulation of football as a business investment lead to very unhappy fans.

However, I cannot do anything about it because he earned all of his money. He has the right to do whatever he wants.

I have respect for Abramovich and Mourinho for their brilliance as a fearless owner and a charismatic manager respectively.

I just hate Abramovich's ruthless influence on my favorite sport. Moreover, I dislike Mourinho's ungracious ego. It is a shame for such an ambitious man to have no class.

Sort of. In today's dollars George Washington would have been a billionaire. He married a wealthy widow and parlayed that into a significant fortune. He owned huge tracts of land in Virginia. He was said to have been among the very richest men in North America at the time.

Just goes to show how many people on CC don't understand anything life.

One group arguing that a prestigious college=success, the other arguing money=success.

Maybe if you think back upon this in 20 or 30 years you'll realize how both are very poor benchmarks to success.

I don't mind billionaires like Warren Buffet (Berkshire-Hathaway) or Bill Gates, who donate billions for worthy causes.

I guess they should be doing some thing more constructive-----like making multi-trillion dollar investments which will be really fortuitous for poors (may not be for very instance but after sometimes passed and that'd be so cool!)

they may be richest. but are they happiest????????

deep huh

"those who think money can't buy happiness don't know where to shop"

stuck----like that post! :D
