Richmond Scholars Semi-Finalist Notification

Specific, if you made it to semi-finalist stage, you’re probably a shoe-in for admittance.

“Because finalists are being selected by multiple committees (different groups of faculty), we can’t guarantee that all notifications will go out at exactly the same time. We’re doing our best to notify everybody as quickly as possible. At this point, most finalists have been notified.” - Richmond Admissions Blog

Still keeping my hopes up, but a bit discouraging nonetheless.

spider05, I am an international asking for loads and loads of aid… so I won’t suppose that I am in… isn’t it??

Does University of Richmond provide very generous need based aid to international students, apart from the ‘Richmond Scholars’ Program?

Things are different for international students, that’s for sure. UR is need-aware for internationals ([International Students - Financial Aid - University of Richmond](<a href=“Financial Aid - University of Richmond”>Financial Aid - University of Richmond)).

The good news is that UR is budgeting more for scholarships this year than last, and the rate increased faster than tuition,so that’s a positive. Your academic credentials are strong, as you are finalist, but needing “loads and loads of aid” will hurt. If you do get in though UR will meet 100% of your demonstrated aid.

@specific I asked for LOADs of aid too-like 90% i think…
I actually applied to Richmond due to its aid statistics-so I’m sure they’re really good in terms of fin aid to international students

In my Finalist email they also said I was admitted into Class of 2016.
Are all finalists accepted?
(they should be, since they all get 15k… it’d be weird if someone gets scholarship w/o admission)

I didnt get science scholars  thats baffling since I thought I had a much better shot at science  anyone has any idea what they ask at the interviews??

Good luck man… Well done… I am not a finalist… My journey of ‘RICHMOND SCHOLARS’ ended at Semi-finalist round…

@specific - did you receive an email or something notifying you? I’m still waiting to hear, and although I like to think that no news is good news, I can’t help but wonder…

One of the colleges that I really liked, has broken my heart this time. I got an email stating that I haven’t been chosen as a ‘Richmond Scholar Finalist’, though I was expecting it for a few days now…

I felt like I am not worth anything, for a while. I read the email 5 AM in the morning, before my Cricket practice and the day didn’t go any better for me.

I can’t say that I was the best applicant in this pool but I was sure that I should get into a pool of 170 finalists. I guess the Richmond’s Applicant Pool was extraordinary this time. Now, I am seriously contemplating over my chances of getting accepted…

I just got the letter today, and unfortunately, I was not a finalist for Richmond Scholars. However… I did get accepted into the school! I’m hoping a lot of you guys have the same opportunity and great luck, even if Scholars doesn’t turn out the way you want.

My son, who was a semi-finalist, has not heard either way…whether he has advanced on to the finalist round or not. For those who did not move on to the next round, did you find out via e-mail or letter (or both)? Am thinking no news is not good news in this case.

@1luckydog - I second your comment through and through. Although I do have some hope there’s still a chance, seeing different committees finish reviewing applications at different times.

Hello! I am an international student and an Oldham Finalist. Congratulations to all the other finalists and all the best for your interviews!

Good luck to all finalists on their interviews this week!

^thanks!! I am so nervoussssss

Ahh so nervous!! I have mine today!!

Does being a semifinalist mean we are admitted to the University of Richmond?

From the admission blog:

I was selected as a semi-finalist. Does that mean I’m admitted to Richmond?
Not officially. Admission to Richmond is not final until you receive official notification from the Office of Admission (and we’ll be looking carefully at your mid-year senior grades!) However, being selected as a Richmond Scholars semi-finalist means you’ve been identified as a top student in our pool, so you can probably expect good news.

Good luck to all the semifinalists.

Today is a good day  got notified that I’m a semifinalist! Spent 10 minutes punching the air in joy.

Congrats! Hope D hears soon…
