Ride board

Trying to figure out how to get my daughter home for Thanksgiving, is there an old fashion ride board or a ride page on portal? Has anyone used Amtrak to get home?

Where is home? My D used Amtrak after orientation to visit friends in Westchester NY. Very easy but somewhat expensive.

Chicago. But have family in Cinci if I could get her that far without costing an arm and leg!

My D travels home to NJ using Amtrak. During Thanksgiving the fare goes way up. My son flies home from Boston for Thanksgiving for less than my daughter pays for Amtrak. When my son was an undergrad in NC, he also paid less to fly home for Thanksgiving. I would price out the airlines and do it soon, since the fares keep going up the closer to the date your daughter will be traveling.

No classes Wed but there are classes Tuesday. Is that correct?

How about Southwest Airlines from BWI to Midway? BWI is accessible by train from D.C. BWI s also a Southwest hub, so there are lots of flights.

Tuesday classes will follow Friday’s schedule. Whatever classes you normally have on Friday, that’s what you will have on Tuesday.

Besides the train, you can also get to BWI by Metro and bus (Red Line to Gallery Place, then Green Line to Greenbelt, then the B30 Metrobus to BWI. Check [Metro - Home page](http://www.wmata.com) for the bus schedule.

Ajparent, AU actually does have a ride board, called Zimride:

[Rideshare, carpool at American University - Zimride](http://zimride.american.edu)

It’s a very convenient way for AU students to find rides with other students as a passenger or driver, whether for a regular commute or a one-way trip, especially to places where a lot of students live like Pennsylvania or New Jersey. I’ve used it a number of times myself to find rides for school breaks to Connecticut, where my parents live. Students also have the option of restricting their searches only to other people at AU, or opening it up to other local schools. For instance, I once found a ride with a student from George Mason who lived two towns over from my parents. It’s a great system, I definitely recommend it.

Thanks so much!
