Getting from UD to BWI

Anyone have any insight on the transportation options for getting from UD to BWI (Baltimore Airport). Son is flying out of BWI in Oct and I am trying to figure out how to get him there.

Well, there’s Delaware Express [Delaware Express Shuttle Reservation System](Reservations - Delaware Express), though I’ve had my D use it and I believe it is quite costly for one person.

He can take Amtrak to Philadelphia then hop on a Northeast Regional Train which has a stop at BWI.

There’s one Amtrak train a day that stops in Newark on its way south, but I think it’s only in the evening. If he can get a ride to Wilmington (or take the bus there), there’s no need to backtrack all the way to Philadelphia. Trains run from Wilmington many times a day to BWI.

Silly me - the train that takes you to Philly continues on to BWI, so no need for a train switch. I think there are 2 a day now out of Newark on weekends, but nothing in the a.m.

Newark to Philly to BWI is one train? They are in different directions. I’d check that.

I’ve used Delaware Express for DD to get to PHL and to Amtrak in Wilmington (when time didn’t work out for Newark Amtrak). It is costly but reliable.

I’m told there’s a ride board on campus and that you can get a ride to various places by other students for a lot less money. We never tried that. Now that DD is a soph, I think she knows more people with cars. Hopefully, she’ll be able pay a friend for a ride to Wilmington rather than other private transportation.

What I meant to say is, the same train that stops in Philly continues to Newark and then on to BWI. Here’s the Newark Station Schedule that I got off UD’s website.
