anyone can help me? i know its kinda early

Seems like you’re definitely on the right track. Your grades/course load are great, and you have some leadership positions. For Northwestern, I think you need close to 2200 on the SAT, but as a junior you have plenty of time to prepare. Good luck!

Chance me back?

I just noticed your question about being in-state. I don’t think it’ll be a factor b/c it’s a private college but you have plenty of other things going for you so don’t worry.

If you plan to ED Northwestern, I think you’re on the right track. You still have a year, so you’re probably good.

Thanks for the replies. Are there any other colleges that you guys might suggest for me to look at?

does anyone else have any opinions?

This is probably what you’re looking for…

[Naviance results for Northwestern from highly competitive IL public high school](https://connection.naviance.com/family-connection/colleges/scattergram)

Select Northwestern University from the drop-down list and then sort by unweighted GPA and SAT-2400 scale (or ACT although results are clearer using SAT-2400 scale).

As you can see, Northwestern does not turn away a lot of 4.0 GPAs from tippy-top public schools. Obviously you need to keep the grades up and get ACT/SAT scores in their range. But if you do indeed go to the top public high school in Illinois it is not likely that you will be rejected by Northwestern if you maintain that 4.0 GPA.

Good Luck

4.0 and 30+ ACT should be fine. I don’t see how a public school with 5000 students can be “ultra-competitive” :P

edit also going ED would help mucho

The OP is exaggerating on the 5000. There are no non-charter public high schools in IL with that many students.

However, both New Trier and Stevenson have over 4,300 students and they are both ultra-competitive high schools (amongst non-charter public schools). They send a lot of students to the most selective schools every year. Stevenson, for example, sends about 20 kids to Northwestern every year. That’s enrolled, not just accepted.

When you have a school with that many kids there is bound to be some bright ones.

I’m sure Lane Tech is up there in size too.

Yes, for sure, but there are plenty of big high schools (maybe not 4000 students big, but that is just because there aren’t that many schools that size) that almost never send kids to the most selective colleges. Warren Township has about 4300 students and surely there are some “bright ones” there too. But they very rarely (if ever) end up at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or Stanford as they do from Stevenson.

Lane tech is a magnet school so I don’t think it is comparable.

i go to Stevenson. Thats what i meant by ultra competitive.

the school is Stevenson and sends quite a few kids to Ivy leagues

The school has nearly a hundred percent college Attendence rate and a score of 30 on the act Is considered low but I’m more concerned about my chances to Northwestern
