Right way to do resume/activity list?

Was wondering what you thought was best in doing your guys' resume/activity list? Was it just listing your most important activities and giving descriptions about them, or did u guys list everything you've ever done? And for the resume, what did u guys put on there that wasn't already said in the application itself?

You put specific stuff that you couldn't put in the activities section like specific duties, individual events/awards, etc.

Yes, exactly.

I would do it in the same format as the common application activity sheet... I've heard that admissions officers find professional resumes for teenagers obnoxious. If you take out the book "Rock Hard Apps" by Katherine Cohen, she has a sample activity sheet that works well and certainly worked for me.

anyone want to share a format hahah. i don't want to submit a resume if it seems pretentious- maybe I should just take out everything except the activities and write a sentence or two about them? how should I do this? would chart form be ok?

I just broke my resume up into clubs/organizations, awards, and volunteer work/community service. Beside each thing, I listed the grades and any offices held. I didn't even bother listing the amount of hours or a description of the activity, and it still worked out for me.

Personally, I don't believe in specific formats; if you email me, i'll be more than happy to show you my Yale Resume

(i'm almost out of space for private messages)

Would adcoms be annoyed if someone sent in a reading list of "favorites?" I'm still debating it, however, I have heard that Yale is very clear about wanting just the app and nothing extra...

Thanks

i put down reading material as a hobby in my resume, and i listed a few authors. (btw, my resume is open if anyone wants to see it...ask me at samian.quazi@gmail.com, and i'll send it)

above all, don't care about wut others speculate on "To put or not to put"

If "Reading" is a hobby for you, then by all means, go for it

im sorry... but.. where exactly does it ask for the resume/activity list... i am doing my commonapp and supplement online... im sure im overlooking it.. but where does it ask for it??

it doesn't ask for it, but most people send it because the common app activity chart doesn't really explain what the person does in his or her ECs.I put mine on the additional info section and basically described all of my ECs, awards I won for them, and the positions I held.

Did anyone who applied ea to a school send the activity list after the postmark deadline and have it still be considered?

actually, it mentions "resume" on the common app itself

look at the Extracurricular grid, and read the instructions...it says "Please fill in this chart even if you plan to attach a resume"
