Rigor of senior schedule

I'm thinking of getting into the medical field, but to gain more knowledge of what its really about, I have to choose between a few options I have:

take Exploring Health Careers - pro: you shadow different people everyday in retirement homes, therapists, surgeons and a funeral home apparently. you actually get to see real surgeries while a nurse explains the procedures to you.
con: takes up 2 class periods and I'm afraid colleges might think I'm slacking off (I'm taking 5 ap classes along with that and I'd have to sacrifice orchestra which I've been doing since 4th grade)

should i do that or try to find a shadowing opportunity over the summer?

uhh im doing something like that... i think its a great experience man... in our school its called Co-operative education... and im doing mine with neurosurgery unit- ITS BEEN A BLAST MAN, and don't think it looks easy from a description, trust me ull be doing lots of projects in that class...
