I just learned that Beverly Cleary has passed away at age 104. My daughters read so many of her wonderful books. What a great writer.
My children and I loved her books. I look forward to reading them again with my grandchildren.
I’ve always been so amazed and impressed that this author who already had an impressive backlog of books I loved when I was first reading (mid-60s) was still putting out new stories when my kids were reading (90s to early 00s). RIP
There was a Canadian made TV series based on the Ramona books, might have been shown on PBS back in the 90’s when our girls were young. We all LOVED that series. Such a kind and gentle TV series.
Henry Huggins was one of my favorite books growing up - read it multiple times. I also enjoyed the books starring Ramona and Beezus. In college one of my friends and I discussed our love for the book “Ellen Tebbits”. I also liked Ms. Cleary’s books about teens.
She was by far my favorite author growing up. I am glad she had a long life and was so appreciated while she was alive. I’m still sad to hear of her passing.
When my (now adult) D introduced me to Ramona, Henry and Beezus I was happy as a lark! Such fun books!
@MADad , my husband and I loved that series when we watched it with our young kids. Our only quibble was that they cast people our age as the parents! In our mind they should have been much older!
