Hi, guys. I’m a high school senior and I recently got into RISD, SVA, and Pratt but I just have no idea where to go. I’m gonna be majoring in film/video, and I would like to produce videos such as short films, music videos, commercials and documentaries in the future. I looked up many professionals working in this area and figured out they are called “filmmakers” or “art directers.”
So far I’m more inclined to RISD, but I’m not sure if they have such good video program. And I’ve heard that schools near NYC have more job opportunities because they are located in industrial hub and are more connected to internships, and they know the trend better…?
But I don’t know if those schools have a good video program either, so I thought it’s kinda risky to go there only because of the location. But does RISD have less job opportunities? On the website over 90% of students gratuated from RISD got their jobs within one year…but since I’m an international student, I wonder if that applies to me as well. I really need an advice. Thanks.
Go to RISD. It’s a better school than the other two schools. I have a friend who has very good grades, I’m trying to help her decide between Pratt and SVA now, and she doesn’t do these forums. She didn’t get into RISD. You are so lucky! GO!! (to RISD!!) Have you visited these campuses? and the areas around them?
