This summer I really want to start narrowing down where I will actually apply next year. Also I would love suggestions of other colleges I should think about!

I have visited Wake Forest, Davidson, Duke, Georgetown, Villanova, Swarthmore, UPenn, Vanderbilt, NYU, Clemson, and College of Charleston
I live in SC so Clemson and CofCharleston are my major safety options.

I am probably going Pre-med. Size I am pretty negotiable on, although I think mid sized (5000-8000ish) would be ideal. Also I really think I want to be somewhere near a city if that is at all possible, because being in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do except frat parties sounds terrible.

Next year I will definitely visit Emory, and I am thinking about visiting Rice and SMU.

SAT scores: Math-700, CR- 800 WRITING- 790
GPA: 4.0

I really liked Duke, UPenn, and Villanova. I am concerned that Wake is too fratty and the town didnt seem to have too much else to offer. I really do not think a very small liberal school or anywhere that is all discussion focused classes would be a good fit for me.

I would love other suggestions of schools I should look at!!!

Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, WUSTL, UNC

Try looking at results threads from each school. You have good stats, although you should take two SAT subject tests. I recommend math II and a science for Pre-med.

Good Luck!

By the way, what did you think of Swarthmore and UPenn when you visited?

Let me know if you have any questions about Clemson! I’m a senior civil engineering major there.

Personally, it doesn’t seem that Clemson would be a good fit for you based on what you want but it is a good safety option for you and you may get some good opportunities with the Calhoun Honors College (could be in consideration for the National Scholars Program)

Consider cost and financial aid constraints. Remember that medical school is expensive.

With your parents, run the net price calculators on some of your candidate schools to see if they are likely to be affordable.

If money is a major concern, there are a few guaranteed-for-your-stats large (full tuition or even full ride) merit scholarships that you may want to consider for safeties.

I liked UPenn a lot, probably one of my top choices but a definite reach. I thought it was a beautiful campus and had a lot to offer, my only concern might be safety, even though they obviously take a lot of precautions, there is a big reason the precautions are necessary. Swarthmore wasnt my favorite- a really pretty campus, I just dont think it would be a great fit for me.

Interesting, I am sorry to misdirect the thread but, what was your top choice after visiting? Do visits really affect whether you apply or not? I won’t be able to visit many, or any, of the schools that I will apply to, but is feel and right fit that important?

You can personal message me if you like.

What about Boston College?
