OK so I am one of 2 students in my school who are taking a class called multivariable calc online because we are 2 years accelrated and everyone else is at most 1 year accelerated in math. This course is insane and I think I’m gonna fail. But its a pass/fail course and it doesn’t get averaged into my gpa. So my question is if i get accepted into Duke or umich or emory, the schools that im applying to early, are they going to revoke me because of an F in this class?
Can you drop.the class?
I would think an F may get your admission revoked. For most schools, they don’t want to see anything less than a C (and not many of those).
Are you sure? Generally a pass does not get factored in, but a fail will.
But yes, an F in the class will run the risk of admissions being rescinded. If you don’t think you can improve via tutoring or online resources, then I agree, drop the class.
. An F would be bad. Have you considered a tutor?
The problem isn’t the material. At least not yet. I just didn’t know how to submit stuff online so my first few assignments just got really low grades. I also can’t drop because i paid like $800 to take it. You don’t think that when the schools see the rigor of the course they wont let it slide?
Will they see the rigor? Yes. Will that excuse a failing grade? No. But if you’ve now figured out the technical issues, hopefully that will boost your future grades.
You may have to weigh the $800 you’ve paid against going to the schools you’re considering. None of them will want to see that F, regardless of the course or its format or its rigor. Ultimately, you took the course hoping it would look good on your transcript. That F will look bad.
Yes that F will get you rescinded or just not admitted.
And yes the course is rigorous but realize MANY applicants to this level of colleges take such a class and get a B or higher.
(DO have your guidance counselor emphasize how exceptional it is at your school that anyone would be taking such a school).
Contact the provider and explain you had trouble submitting material at the beginning, can they allow you to send the material you’ve missed now that you’ve figured out how to submit it?
