Risky topic for MIT essay?

the prompt asks: Tell us about something that you have created. This can be, for example, a design, a device, an object, an idea or concept.

ok, so I have tons of techie ideas floating around and some stuff I've created.

But I am thinking of writing about a song I composed and sang for an English assignment, which went above and beyond what was required.
I could describe what parts of the creative process appealed to me and how that relates to what I want to do in the future with engineering.

However, considering this is MIT and I am applying to comp. engineering and not music, should I write about this? I am not so sure its a 'design, a device, an object, an idea or concept' and its not so technological...
Would writing about this satisfy the prompt and the readers at MIT?

in my opinion yes, but im not applying to MIT and am more an arts/science person anyway. But i think its creative and acceptable, just my opinion.

schoolsearching, did you mean "yes, this is a risky topic" or "yes, this would be a satisfactory essay"?

"yes, i think it would be satisfactory"...but any advice from MIT applicants or admits would probably be better.

I think it would be fine; it shows that you have interests other than math and science.

Go for it. MIT doesn't only want math and science (it doesn't hurt to be a bit balanced).

I get the sense that the essay you propose is one you can write with enthusiasm and authenticity; you should write it.
