I'm really excited to live in Risley next year (by assignment, not by application), but I'm slightly worried about the social aspects. I love to go out on the weekends, but do the majority of people who live in Risley go to frat parties? I've been to parties at Cornell before but I was staying with people in CKB when I went, so do people in Risley find out about the frat parties just as much, or do they have to work harder to find places to go on the weekend? If I make the effort to find parties to go to, will it be still be difficult to find people to go with because of the community?

Not really. Freshmen in Risley will be just as eager to go to the fraternity parties at the beginning.

You really have the best of both worlds. Access to all of the Risley underground parties and the typical frat parties that the majority of freshmen revolve around.

yea, it seems a few people got placed into risley again this year... btw, which room are you in?

yea, of COURSE risley people like to party! Frat, architect, Risley parties, house parties... you name it. First of all, there are only a few people living in Risley that create the stereotypical "risleyite." Therefore the rest of us living there are just chill guys and girls who really enjoy music, theatre and/or art.

In terms of partying, i'd say my groups of friends (almost all of which are going to be living in Risley again next year) are pretty active. We prefer architect parties (which hardly anyone outside of risley or the architect department will hear about). You'll see why ;) And Risley underground parties? They're alright, especially when everyone strips down to their underwear, but they get boring after a while. Good music though. So yea, just hang with us and we will hook you up my friend!

This makes me feel so much better about next year. I wasn't too worried, but just the reassurance is great! Thanks so much

The only thing I'm worried about is this:

^^haha you will see paintings and artwork all over the walls

hahahahaha thats... really more of a joke. have a sense of humor!

u havnt even seen the naked paint imprints yet. now THOSE are interesting... and controversial. i'll tell u the story sometime.

but not to worry, like i said. theres chill people all around.
