Going to next weekend’s accepted students open house. Any tips for making the most of it for those of you who went this weekend or in prior years? The schedule we have is a bit sparse - not sure what to expect. We visited the campus over the summer so already have some familiarity with it.
we are also going. We have not seen the residential side yet, so that is on our list. I am hoping my son “makes friends” as he is not exactly the social type. with my D17 when we did accepted students day at her college she was able to make connections already.
We’re going as well. Same basic plans as @sdl0625 - we skipped the dorm tour the first time we visited, so we want to check that out, plus hoping our son can meet some of the clubs and other organizations that he has interest in and meet some other incoming freshmen.
We will not be attending as my S spent 3 days there, including an overnight, during the colleges and careers event. If there is the ability to sit in on classes or meet department faculty or students, I can’t recommend it enough. We requested the departmental meeting and then the “classes” part was covered by the event. Both made a huge difference/impact.
Thanks everyone for weighing in. We haven’t done a residential tour so will try to work that in as well as seeing if our son will talk to folks at the clubs and activities fair about participating in instrumental music. He has a lot of difficulty interacting with people he doesn’t know well. Since we are staying over Saturday night, I think we will also try to find a spot for him to hang out in the afternoon to work on his homework so he can just get a feel for the atmosphere at RIT.
