We came from a couple days away to the big envelope. Daughter accepted into New Media Design!
Son accepted RD, game design and development major. Yay! Rigorous public school, 94 UW gpa.
We got the acceptance envelope from RIT (regular decision, College of Health Sciences and Technology) on February 20 last year. I think we got the financial aid package during the first week in April.
My daughter is a very happy second-semester freshman.
Still nothing in NJ, unless you want to count the large envelope addressed to an unknown person from the next neighborhood ,a half mile away from our house I am hoping that this is one of the many goof ups from out inept post office
@hockeymom12,
Wow, level 10 gymnast? I am totally impressed!
I emailed daughter’s admissions counselor and she answered me back that NTID doesn’t send out their letters until March 15th. Maybe because they have their own admissions department that only views applicants that are applying to that particular school ?
I just wish we were done waiting so we can make our final visits and make a decision ….
Do you live in NY?
^^^ who was that addressed to ?
My son got RD acceptance package in the mail on Saturday (San Diego) and his portal is now updated to say Congratulations and next steps (far upper left corner of page). Game Design Program. We visited twice, interviewed, sent portfolio of work, generally showed a lot of interest. No word on merit aid yet.
Son received acceptance in the mail yesterday (Southern California). Mechanical Engineering.
ACT 35, 3.6 UW GPA, 4.4 Weighted. 7 years in robotics.
Love the program, just not sure about the location!
Well, another week has passed and it is looking like admissions for the school my daughter is waiting to hear from really doesn’t send out decisions until mid-March.
@Two Sue, the weather there doesn’t seem to be an issue, our daughter really wants to be in a city …but there is no question that RIT has the best to offer in terms of education for what she wants to do
Acceptance came in the post several days ago. Achievement Scholarship (complete, total surprise) came in the post yesterday. The letter states that the only time in four years it will not be paid is during a co-op period when the student is not charged tuition at all. They make it very clear also that selection is based on a holistic consideration and that they are still actively reviewing applicants for tuition scholarships and grants.
I haven’t heard / seen anything regarding acceptances to the school and program that my daughter is waiting to hear from. I hope the letters go our before the 15th , rather than later. I am itching to plan our trips to the schools we are choosing between . We have guests coming during the open houses for RIT accepted students , but they will just have to understand if daughter and I need to cut our own visit short with them
Achievement Scholarship notification received yesterday as well - a very nice surprise.
@lje62 I feel your pain. We are waiting to hear from three colleges still and I am itching to get travel plans in place during this very busy time of year.
@prsmom and @TwoSue
We are from SoCal as well. Prnmom, what is the college and campus like? What about the city of Rochester? Is there a CA college that you would say is similar? With an undergrad population of 15K, does it feel like the number of kids at USC? I’m a little bit concerned about the weather difference.
@YohoYoHo ,
We visited RIT for their open house in September. The campus in actually in Henrietta, which is still considered part of Rochester. The campus setting is more suburban and not at all what I would consider city-ish. We went to explore the city and didn’t see much of it. The part we saw seems a bit tired and in need of some revitalization , but also saw some charming parts too. We visited Lake Ontario area and it was really very pretty. The weather isn’t really a concern because it seems like there is a lot to do on campus and also , there is a tunnel system that goes between buildings so you don’t have to go outside when the weather is an issue.
Weather has never been a deciding factor for our daughter. All of the schools she has applied to are in rather snowy cities
