Thanks all for calling college, I was going to call Tomorrow as I have been wondering what status was, good luck to everyone !
@OUBOBCAT92 Your son should be receiving a notice in the admissions portal within the next day or two, I would guess.
@schristopher78 my son is waiting to hear on ME Aerospace as well. Fingers crossed for both of them!
@hak7735, any chance he is also doing AFROTC?
@schristopher78 no, but still trying to talk him into it…
Son was just denied admission for Mech Eng. GPA 3.87, 1200 SAT, lots of engineering classes in high school and I (his mom) is an alumni. So, kind of bummed but it was his most expensive school & he did get into several other schools. Good luck everyone!
Son was waitlisted for ME ?
@LCP9876 I’m sorry but glad he is happy with the other options.
@College1567 I’m sorry, I dont know what their WL stats are.
Frustrating to wait so long for those results. It will be nice to move on to the kids getting to make their pick part of this process.
Received update today via email that I was denied from the Computer Science program, yet I was offered admission into the Computer Engineering and Management Information Systems majors… Not too bummed, as RIT was not at the top of the list.
My son was denied tonight. I am shocked. 3.7 gpa, 1280 on SAT, Several APs, awesome recommendations, black belt in karate, varsity lacrosse…all around good kid. Thankfully he has other options, but I still feel bad for him.
Sorry typo…a 1380 on the SATs
i’ve been accepted into film and animation! got waitlisted at another school yesterday and am waiting for decisions results from my two final schools…every one i’ve been accepted into has offered me a pretty good scholarship, but it’s still not enough for support. my parents and i were hoping to get by with minimal loans but it seems this day and age everything is getting more and more costly. not sure if i can go anywhere with a happy mindset, which stinks.
@LCP9876. @College1567, @Exclusions, @schristopher78. I am so sorry
Thanks everyone! My son said that RIT said they received an enormous amount of ME applications this year and the ED’s beat the RD’s so very limited space.
S wait listed SE / CS…1440 / high honors / college prep…anyone have an idea of RIT’s approach to wait lists (how many students put on list and how likely to lead to an admission acceptance)?
RIT doesnt seem to publish CDS so its hard to say. Good luck getting off the wait lists. If your S/D contacts the school and indicates that its their top choice, maybe that would help?
Anyone with their heart set on RIT or that wants to save major $$, take a look at MCC’s 2+2 Engineering Sciences major. They have an agreement with both RIT and Clarkson, as well as a few other great schools. We are still waiting to hear if my son will be awarded an AFROTC scholarship, but if he doesn’t they also partner with RIT for AFROTC. Could potentially be a savings of $60,000 and he will end up with the same exact degree. He just needs to get over the pride of having a school like Clarkson announced at graduation…which is only momentary.
My ME son STILL hasn’t heard, but I guess there’s really no hope at this point given yesterday’s wave. I’m so sorry to all the qualified students who were rejected, but I’m sure they all have other good choices. I’ve been through this with multiple kids, multiple schools, and it doesn’t ever get any easier. Schools make it harder than it needs to be when they withhold some decisions until the very last second like this.
For those of you wondering about the Honors Program - I checked in with admissions and they said honors notifications have not been sent yet and that students will receive invitations by early April.
@schristopher78 mine was denied too. 1400 SAT, 3.6 GPA, Robotics club, CAD and Pre engineering classes were not enough. This was a tough one, but he’s got some other good options as well. Touring Clarkson next weekend. Best of luck to yours.
