Okay, yesterday we are pretty sure there was a minor robbery at my house, and so far we have only found one thing to be missing, my $230 i-pod touch. We had the police come over last night to check things, but they found nothing out of the ordinary. What is the policy for such a minor robbery like this? How do I end up getting compensated? Thanks.

I feel like it needs to be asked, how do you know you didn't just lose your iPod? If nothing else was missing and the cops didn't see anything out of the ordinary, what makes you think it was a robbery? It seems like part of the story is missing here.

I'd find that peculiar. I'm sure you have a television, perhaps a DVD player, a computer, maybe a stereo system, jewelry...I doubt a robber would bypass all of that and zone in on the iPod.

If you do believe you were robbed and want compensation, you'd need to contact your home insurance (and hope robbery is covered).

maybe your brother stole the ipod, or your dog ate it.

if you had a gun this probably wouldnt have happened. check the laws in your state, you can protect yourself for only a hundred dollars or so...

Did you have friends over or something? Cause stealing only an iPod and bypassing everything else seems stupid to me.

Homeowners insurance kick in? Wait, were you in the house when there was a robbery? Were you out? Do you have alarms? Do you have security (camera, etc)? Are your protected? (firearms, etc)? Be more specific here.

I'd have to second Plattsburgh's comment that is highly unlikely an ipod would be stolen and other electronics left untouched.
