Robert Reich?

Has anyone taken is Wealth and Poverty class? How was your experience?

Is it true that he is very biased towards the left in his class, and that his GSIs only give good grades to those that have papers supporting liberal points of view?

I'm a social liberal but fiscal moderate. I also tend to be against extremists on both the right and left. Would I be able to enjoy his class?

I'm open-minded and I would definitely like being presented with a new perspective, even if it is very liberal. But I don't want to be indoctrinated, and I don't want to be forced to write papers with a liberal point of view.

Other than that, I heard Reich is a great lecturer, and getting a recommendation from him would be killer.

What do you think?

Yeah I’ve heard the same about him as well. I want to take the Public Policy class (is it the same one? lol) but some of the comments I’ve heard about him discourages me from doing so (no doubt there’s always a lot of good ones as well).

I hear the grading is arbitrary and contingent on whether or not you agree with Reich’s points. I’m not sure though- this is what I get from previous comments on ratemyprofessors.com I would assume that people who are already very liberal would enjoy this class though.
