The Moorehead Scholarship is only through UNC, and does not involve Duke at all. You can’t apply for that OOS unless your school is a nominating school. The Robertson is at both schools and you can apply for it through both schools, or you could at one point. I’ve heard that has changed however. eadad can probably answer this a lot better than I can.

Your last assumption is correct. But there are guidelines for a Morehead nomination.

If you are instate you can self nominate for the Morehead if your school does not nominate you. If you are OOS and do not attend a nominating school, then the only chance for getting Morehead consideration would be to apply early and hope that admissions thinks enough of your app to forward it to the Morehead-Can Foundation for their review. If you attend a nominating school you would obviously need to be the person selected for their nomination.

Based on the information you’ve provided from previous threads and using outside knowledge, I can personally tell you that you wouldn’t be able to go for the Moorehead-Cain scholarship, because your high school isn’t a nominating school. However, should you still want to apply, I’m aware that you can commit yourself to the Morehead-Cain scholarship should UNC in this case agree that you should get a application review. Hope that helps. Have fun with the application process.
