Hey guys! I'm new to this board! I applied RD to Duke and I'm wondering how hard it is to win those Robertson scholarships. I won't be getting much need-based aid, so I really would like to get some money somewhere. Does anyone know? I know they want a lot of community service. I'm from TX and I'm on the board for this youth leaders thing for middle-school students in my city. It's like me and some adults ... and though I have other leadership in being leader of Model UN and newspaper editor. How hard are Duke scholarships (I'm 1590/800/790/790)? What does it take?

Its based more on personality and who you are as a person than accomplishments although accomplishments augment your candidacy. btw only 15 ppl at Duke win these scholarships annually.

Yeah, I'm not exactly expecting it. How exactly could they base it on personality?

With the boat load of essays you wrote, the extra letter of recommendation, and your passions/interests. They look for real people with real interests and talents not fake people. With the amount of effort you undertook to complete the Robertson Scholars app you can assume they will be able to judge your character, interests, passions, motivations, and personality.
