Okay, so nothing in the mail again today. I guess earlier comments were wrong. Seems like more recent comments on timing might be correct. Oh we’ll, one week closer!
Is anyone on step 5?
If you go back at look at UR Facebook post it actually says “regular decision admit packets are soon to make their way to some wonderful students!”
Does not specify when, though the image of USPS crates filled with admit envelopes does give the impression of imminence.
My son is still on 4 but I see they updated to acknowledge they received his mid year report. Unfortunately he had a very bad quarter, I really think it’s going to hurt his chances.
I think it’s almost easier when schools don’t communicate much during the decision process. Out of sight of sight out of mind until the published date. It’s unfortunate that there were some miscommunications (or things left to interpretation) during a stressful period.
Couldn’t agree more with @VMT - I preferred the colleges who said “We are notifying you on X”, and had no communication until X. The colleges that say we will notify you by Y, which don’t give a clear indication of when “by Y” will be are the worst
I think it’s nice that URoc keeps applicants informed as their app goes through the multiple review steps. It’s just important to remember that no matter how fast you get to step 5, you still won’t hear until March. That’s true at most schools that don’t have rolling admissions. You just happen to have a little more info with URoc.
SOO GLAD I FOUND THIS THREAD!!!
I’m on step 4 now! Best luck to all!
IS ANYONE STILL ON STEP 2? Should I think this is weird? It seems really weird…
Hey! So if they posted the picture of the envelopes on the 13th do you think they mailed them out on the 13th??
We discussed that, no, acceptances will begin going out in the beginning of March.
Hey guys! Will I not be able to progress to step 5 until I submit the IDOC tax documents?
^shouldn’t have any effect, at least that’s what I would think.
On a related note, Rochester hasn’t asked me for IDOC yet, and they’re not on my list for IDOC :’(
@jamesjunkers I submitted my app on January 5th. I probably should have done it earlier. Should I be worried that I am still on Step 2?
How am I supposed to know…? I would assume it’s not a problem, just send an email to your regional rep (name and contact info on your MyROC account), asking if anything is wrong
@Cosmological
@jamesjunkers Sorry, lol. You just seemed like a sort of active person in this thread and I recognized you from other threads on CC, so I asked a specific person.
@Cosmological I agree that you should just email your admissions rep but as an aside, I submitted my application on 1/5 also and am on Step 4. So, I’m not sure that submission date is the only factor in how far along you are in the review process.
You need to remember, too, that the reviewers are real people. Some may take longer than others to review each app. Somebody might have had a busy week with other responsibilities or been out sick with the flu for a couple of days, so they’re a little behind on their reviews. Best not to read too much into the step-by-step timing.
Also consider that reviewers do not necessarily read applications in first in-first done order. And that applications are read by more than one reviewer–each of whom has a different process.
Really, how long your app remains in each step has little to do with your chances for admission.
Does anyone know how Rochester decides on merit scholarships?
