Mail just came here…but nothing from UofR.
I was at UofR over the weekend and actually spoke to one of the admissions counselors. He said that the letters will start going out on March 1st depending on how early you applied so the earlier you apply earlier you find out. Also this year they did not do priority review due to the large volume of applications that were received. So you guys really shouldn’t be expecting anything in the mail at least until first week on march. He also said that decisions will be sent by snail mail and email. So don’t get worked up letters stay calm!
@maxprocrast97, admissions tweeted that letters have been sent out..

@maxprocrast97 thanks for the information, I’m taking your word for it, but would also like to point out that everyone who talks to U of R seems to get different information. Some people are saying there is priority review, some people are saying there isn’t. Some people are saying letters are coming out this week, and other are saying they aren’t.
I feel that the tweet with all the letters was sort of misleading then. But I’ll believe the March 1st situation. It explains why none of the RD applicants are on step 5.
Seems like there’s only 1 way to find out. At exactly 4 pm EST today, we all email our regional rep, with the exact same email:
Then we compare responses tomorrow.

You seriously think it’s a worthy idea to “demand” an answer? And you still think an acceptance would be likely?
The fact that you construed that as serious, as opposed to its clear sarcastic implication scares me, and I worry for the future of humanity.
You fear for the future of humanity because the mother of a current junior at URoc has been reading your posts and excessive concern/worry throughout all of this regarding your procrastination over applying and isn’t sure of your intent?
Ok then.
@Creekland, again, I was being sarcastic. But that was my stupidity - If it wasn’t understood before, it couldn’t possibly of been understood now. Anyways, this is an extremely stupid thing to argue over, so I apologize for even posting the original message.
@Creekland…are you the parent? If so, show some compassion here…this student (and most of the students posting on this string) are stressed out and worried. This student truly wants an acceptance. admissions materials, including info re: deadlines, priority review, etc, has been difficult to decipher, although, as I related on an earlier post URoc has been more forthcoming/direct about the process than many other Universities, there is still room for improvement (my guess is next year their various deadlines will be clearer, this year apparently is a change from prior, thus the confusion). In any event, if you can’t offer support to students who are going through this process, I would suggest you either keep your comments to yourself, or leave this thread. @jamesjunkers, I hope you get accepted!
@Hobothecat, thank you for those words, good luck to you too!
Leave the thread? Not happening. I happen to really like URoc and keeping up with what is going on with the school. Each year I look forward to seeing who is accepted, esp since my guy will likely be working with some of them (as an RA or TA or in his various clubs, etc). I also clue him in occasionally when I see questions on here that he can help answer for prospectives. He’s a bit too busy to keep on on the board himself.
No envelope in today’s mail in central Massachusets.
General Question: How fast were your regional adcons for UR at responding to emails? I had to ask mine something, and I’m just wondering how long I should expect for a response, thanks.
Okay see I was there over the weekend for the simons case competition and I spoke to the dean of admissions John Burdick. He said that this year was the first year UofR had not done the priority review. He also said that letters will definetly go out around begining of march. But only people who applied really early would be finding out at that time. I told him I applied end of november and he said I would only find out around second week of march or so. So just use my situation as refrence and guesstimate your situation. Hope this helps guys.
@maxprocrast97 I don’t doubt for a minute that the admissions officer told you the decisions would go out the beginning of March. My question is…why post a FB picture on 2/13 of the letters in USPS boxes ready to go out?
I have no idea and no answer for that…just to pump up people’s anxiety and to market themselves so people place more emphasis on them? I can’t tell you why they would do that.
Wait this is for regular decision? I’m still on step 3…so I’m assuming URochester sends out decisions in batches? o.o
@maniactango You have assumed correctly! According to other members of this website, Rochester sent their RD decisions out in batches during the entire month of March. Depending on when you applied will determine whether or not you receive your decision sooner or later.
@minohi wow that really sucks…guess I shouldn’t have waited until December 27th…
