<p>RIT is a good school and is career focused.
Also it's a quarter system so 3x 10 week periods, not the semester 2x 15.
You'll have on average 3 exams to do or die.
The only place worse that I've heard of is WPI with 4x 7 week periods.</p>
<p>I chose it over RPI and Clarkson (got into both) based on their co-op program (5 quarters of required work) and generous financial aid.</p>
<p>The co-op program was great, and they offer so much help in getting placements just like finding a real job. If nothing else it taught me what I "didn't" want to do. I did some software development, hardware, IT, and network engineering. Got paid for it too, got good experience on my resume, and lined up company opportunities.</p>
<p>Rochester offers a lot for a tier 2 metro city. It's not Boston or NYC, but it's also not a po dunk middle of nowhere town. </p>
<p>I was 1200 our of 1600 SAT, so wasn't going Ivy league like yourself, but did want a well known school in the NE.</p>
