I got a small offer from RIT, but i do not know some info about it, dose someone know it, please say sth about academics and the opportunity to find a job after finishing master, thank you very much.

RIT is my 1st choice school as of right now. (I am a junior)
I've done quite a bit of research and also know a couple alumni. From what I've been reading/hearing, RIT is a very good school.
It has an EXCELLENT co-op program which has landed the alumni I know full time jobs.
It also offers a dual BS/MS 5 year program. (Both alumni i know also chose to do this.)
In my opinion, a masters in 5 years along with a couple years work experience is GREAT. As far as it's prestige, I believe it is more known on the east coast than anywhere else. Both of the alumni I know are currently working in NYC.

If you search CC, you'll find a lot of valuable information on RIT.

Socially, I don't believe RIT is the best place to be in my opinion. They don't even have a football team! (they are really big on hockey if that's your thing) lol Also the male to female ratio is low =(. I think it's like 3:1 within the whole school, and even worse within the engineering majors.

In summary, I think you should research and read up a lot on RIT. I wouldn't pass it up to quickly!
What other schools were you accepted to/have offers from?

I live in a suburb of Rochester so I know some about it. Its a good tech school, with good co-op, but I don't think its to tough to get into. I don't think it has a lot of good non-academic qualities though. I have been on the campus a few times and I don't remember it being that attractive. As J.marc said high guy:girl, not very good athletics ect.

I actually graduated from RIT- albeit quite a long time ago as I'm a mom now :) but we did look at the school again last year when my daughter was looking at schools for engineering. We live in the Rochester area too.

The only thing I would disagree with on the above comments is the social aspects of the campus. Socially it's an active campus primarily because it's a really BIG campus- for a private school it's one of the largest. No- no more football team but there is a lot going on. The ratio comment surprises me. I don't think it is that bad, not like some schools- as they have so many other majors, not just engineering. I know when I was there it was not terribly lopsided.

The campus is known as "Brick City"- sort of gives you a sense maybe of what it looks like. Not really attractive, you'd think they could have used something other than red brick but the education you would get is very good. Very well known school in this area. I know when we were looking at engineering school and people found out we were from Rochester we would get questions from other parents about RIT so it must have a decent reputation in some circles.

kgrmom

Thank you for all the replies, and I got the offer is EE from RIT, I also found some info about salary of EE in USA which shows that people in RIT can earn better than many good schools, so is this news true? Now I have interested in this school.

I also got AD from TU (university of tulsa)

Lots of RIT info elsewhere on CC: please search.

From other sources I found a very low retention rate. - from perhaps 4 sources.

They are teaching first tier academics to 2nd tier students, without adequate support.

Cold (really cold) and GREY due to lake location.

Lack of community

Low availability of professors to students.

But each person needs to make their own assessment.
