Accepted into rochester and fordham undecided, and newhouse/arts and sciences (dual degree-undecided) at syracuse, I must decide between the 3. I want to eventually major in liberal arts or a social science while taking pre-med classes. However, at syracuse I would do this in the college of arts and sciences while having a separate major at newhouse. I would either like to become a doctor or journalist and cannot decide between the 2 careers.

If you have any advice about which college to choose or on the career paths in general, please share!

*all would be roughly the same price for me.

Fordham has a very intense pre-med curriculum, and as far as journalism, NYC is one of the best places to learn this. The opportunities Fordham has for journalism majors around the city/ in internships are hard to parallel. I’m not familiar with the pre-med curriculum of syracuse specifically, and even though it is a good school, it seems like it would be a very complicated major going between two loosely connected departments.

If you are really serious about pre-med, go to rochester. That is a school with it’s main strength lying in science. It is among the leaders in scientific research and it is often mentioned in scientific articles. As a science students, i think you will have a much more fulfilling experience at Rochester. At fordham u’ll just end up being bogged down with core requirements, etc. At rochester u’ll have the freedom to pursue that degree in the sciences and journalism because of the loose structure of its “core curriculum”. I think Rochester even offers a free fifth year of education so that you can get that second major if u really want to.
