RocketReview quiet FUTILE?

RocketReview, as you all know, is known for its CR section. After reading the CR section, I have tried to apply the methods to the BB. After 2 tests, I have finally came to realize that none of the methods actually helped. For example, there is a quiet bit of chunk on recognizing the easy to attack answer choices and attacking them. One advice was that ones with extreme words are the wrong answer choices. But truthfully I have not even seen one answer choice with an extreme word in it. So let me ask you guys now, the ones with the RocketReview and if you have gotten over 700+ on CR with the help of RocketReview, what advice from the CR section in RocketReview really helped you out consistently?

660 –> 770 with RR.

I just read the entire book slowly and carefully, highlighting important tips as I went along. Also, I did not try to go through the entire RR and then go do the BB at the end. I did a lesson of CR on RR, then a section of CR from the BB and so on.

However, I would not be surprised if this method doesn’t work for you - different books are helpful to different people.

Also, focus on the sentence completion part of the CR, which is not as extensively discussed in RR. For vocab, I suggest DirectHits.

“I just read the entire book slowly and carefully, highlighting important tips as I went along. Also, I did not try to go through the entire RR and then go do the BB at the end.”

Wait the first sentence you have stated that you did read the entire book, but in the second sentence you are saying not to go through the entire RR. Because I also read and highlighted the CR section in the RR. Can you please specify what methods in the CR section really helped you out consistently? Lastly, what CR lesson did you do in RR that you have mentioned, does the lesson contain questions? And did you make use of the RR CD for CR? (All this relates to the Reading Passage Section of the CR)

What powerbomb means is that he went through the whole book in sections. For example, read 5 pages, do a CR section, rinse and repeat. He didn’t read all 150 or whatever pages of CR lessons before finally doing a practice test.

The CD as far as I know is useless, because the RR website is no longer updated.

So wait, for example, he read 5 pages and did the CR section in BB? And also I really want to know specifically what methods in RR are useful consistently, because basically none of the methods I have read were not really useful and I have tried to apply them to BB (As I have given an example on my first post).

RR is a pretty good review book if you don’t know what to expect on the test. If you already know what to expect on the test, then no review book can help you. Sometimes you may find that a technique the review book recommends doesn’t work well for you. That’s completely fine; no need to adhere to everything a book says, especially if its not working for you or you have better methods. It’s up to you to practice and realize why you are getting questions wrong and develop your own test taking strategies.
