role of midyear reports in RD

How big of a role do midyear reports play in RD?

I'm going to have a D in IB Higher Level math (only 8 students in the class, most advanced math class at my school, it's the first year we're having it and apparently it was intended for math and computer science majors, it was an extra math class for me).

My grade is not the result of senioritis but the fact that the class was just too advanced (I'm also taking AP stats this year and I took AP Calc AB last year). The rest of my grades are all As (all AP classes) with the exception of a B in AP Physics.

I won't be taking this class next semester. And I'm sending in a letter (from me, my counselor, and the math teacher) explaining this grade along with midyear report.

But overall, how badly will this hurt me?

What kind of math was it? Multivariable calc?

I'm surprised that so many seniors are in the same boat as us.

math theory and proofs
so theoretical math of everything from pre-calc essentially

idk, if it was so hard, you couldve dropped it. IMHO, it will probably hurt you, but then again I am only a hs senior. A B or a C would look a lot better than a D. It will pull down your GPA and rank, which colleges always weigh heavily.

i couldn't drop it in the middle of the semester---that results in a F. i dropped it already for the rest of the year. it won't affect my GPA and rank (is that even on the midyear report?) cause it's already sent in cause apps are due in jan.

Hi! I had some questions regarding recent developments in my senior year. My school has a program with a local college in which seniors are required to take two college classes, one of which is a mandatory Freshman English seminar, bearing college credit. The other class is up to you to decide, provided it fits in with your schedule. I got placed in a class that had a 60 average, for 42 years straight, according to the professor. I took my final today, and I am scared out of my wits, don't know if I failed or not.

My midyear grades for school are perfectly fine; I have always had a virgin 4 GPA and thankfully, my school grades have not suffered. However, this year, I have taken AP Calculus BC, a subject that I have difficulty in. Unfortunately, with all my devotion to Calculus, my college class fell in the crossroads. My school will be sending a separate college transcript along with my midyear report. I have an A in my college English class, but as for the other class, who knows? Should I send an explanatory letter to colleges? Any suggestions are welcome!
