How does rolling admissions work at WF? If you apply in the summer, will you know by the first date they give (sept 15) or do they hold back and give notices over time?

Wake does not use rolling admissions for the regular decision pool, as far as I know. Regardless of when you apply, you will hear in late March.

If you choose to go early decision, it is rolling, and they let you know in about a week that they received your app. About 6-8 weeks later, they make a decision.

I have a friend who applied in August, and got deferred ED (1200-ish SAT). He retook it later in October, raised it to a 1300, sent his scores, midyear grades, etc., and got in in March. I'm not sure if you plan on going ED, but if you do, I'd recommend waiting until late September or so.

Best wishes in your college search!

TACE77, Our D is contemplating ED at Wake. Why would you "wait until late sept" unless you were retaking SAT in Sept? Other reasons? She feels she could apply in August, find out before her "other" ED choices, and then apply elsewhere ED by Nov. 15 deadline IF she does not get in Wake. makes sense to me.

Know that Early Decision is binding at Wake. Applying ED means that if you are accepted you will go to Wake and withdraw applications from any other schools. My son knew Wake was THE school for him and applied ED. He's starting in the fall.
