Rolling admissions

So i heard that the way uci is gonna release the results is by releasing the applicants who are guaranteed acceptance on this saturday(march 1st) and then telling them they must respond if they are interested in attending by around mid march. And then based on how many responses they get back they will start releasing other peoples' decisions.

Say for example someone doesn't respond back, then they know there is a open spot and they will invite someone else to come to the university.

Just what i heard. Can anyone elaborate/confirm this?

I don't know, some of the state schools will have not sent out notices until April 1 st.

The Irvine invitation I received earlier gave us until May to respond. I doubt that it will be mid-March.

Wow, that would be pretty unfair if it was mid March...we wouldn't have gotten all our college responses yet.

I was accepted on March 1st two years ago and was never given that option. Because UCI releases admissions in batches, it is very likely they use anyone who submits their SIR (statement of intent to register) to their advantage in calculating available spaces. However, I highly doubt they will require March 1st admits to do anything special.

I think that's a lie.

There's no way that they're going to simeotaneously be releasing decisions and monitoring who's responding in such a short time frame. Besides, the other UC's don't release their decisions until later.
