What are some schools that use that rolling acceptance system? What are other popular systems that are used? Thank you.

University of Cincinnati does.

Ithaca has rolling admissions.

Jacobs school of music at Indiana is sort of on Rolling; you find out as early as 3 weeks after your audition or as late as April 1st.

I believe all of the following have rolling admissions for the academic side. Whether separate admission to the music major is required is another question that would have to be researched at each school.

Bradley University
Southern Methodist University
University of Akron
University of Missouri, Columbia
University of Pittsburgh
University of the Arts
Wartburg College
Webster University

There are several popular schemes including

Regular Admission - receive decision by April 1, response due May 1

Early Admission (sometimes divided into two rounds, EA1 and EA2) - receive decision as early as November, you agree that if accepted you will attend unless you cannot afford the cost. Possible outcomes are admit, reject or defer into Regular Admission pool.

Early Decision (sometimes called Early Review) - like EA except non-binding and response due May 1.

Rolling Admission - receive decision as early as September, response due May 1.
