blanche2negru i think you should watch borat lol, just so you have a better idea what im talking about

I haven't watched the movie, but I heard that some scenes were filmed in a Romanian village and people were told it was to be a documentary, so foreigners can find out the difficulties they face, but now that they know the truth, they want to bring to trial the producers.

If you want another kind of video about Romania, try this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zCf8NWJ8kzA

Ok, let's just not talk about b**t; next thing you know, we'll be talking about "manele" and other s*t...

anyone else pending a princeton phone interview?

blanche2negru: hi!

angelutza: so, have you qualified for mendeleev?

No, I did not qualify for Mendeleev. In fact, I consider it a miracle that I qualified in the extended team because I did not study too much this year. My next aim, not to embarrass myself. What did you do to the nationals?

oh, I was 3rd, and I qualified for the extended Ipho team...

angelutza, when are you having your princeton interview and with whom?
I'm having mine on feb. 15, with a recent graduate ( class of 2007) ...

I haven't received anything yet, except that email from the coordinator a few weeks ago. I am starting to worry. In 2 days? Good luck! I want a recent graduate, too! (I wonder why he is back in the country so soon, but never mind). Please, when you are done, tell me in detail how it was. Our common friend from Iasi is having it on 18th.

I had mine yesterday :D
I love interviews :))

angelutza: don't worry; when you are offered an interview means absolutely nothing (as I've read somewhere in this site)
my interviewer (she) is still in the US

plusqueparfaite: hi; with whom did you have your interview? was it a phone interview?

Hi! Yes, it was a phone interview, with a former P-ton Grad Student.

I just received an email from Princeton. I'm having my interview on Sunday with a silver medalist at IPhO from 1999. Good luck today, Edvin.

silviu pufu?
that's so weird ... my interviewer majored in economy - you'd think they'd assign me a physics major...
not complaining, though-my interviewer is alexandra copos; that's so cool!

good luck to you to, and I'll post my impressions on the interview as soon as possible...

offtopic: hooray! I got a 2290!

pufu is too young to have been to IPhO in 1999. I think he was in the 12th grade in 2003 when we were in 7th grade.

That's a great score. Congrats!

costin something...don't remember now. when did you take your 2290? January? Are the results accepted?

Anyway, I don't understand why they assigned to me instead of you an IPhO participant. But the good part for me is that we have at least something in common: the olympic spirit:D

uh, i just had my interview today and it was supergreat! we spoke for about an hour and a half, and i found out soo many things about princeton that i hadn't even known before..
and even if he wasn't interested in medicine, like i am, he knew many things about this field, so :
no matter who you speak to, be sure it's gonna be supercool!

hi, hp_oana!
where are you from and where did you apply? :)

..beside Princeton, obviously ;))

ok, so I had my princeton iview on friday and my harvard iview today.

I'm not exactly what you'd call a good interviewee, and my pronunciation could use some improvement... Moreover, I tend to get nervous easily.

princeton: If, in addition, you consider that sometimes I couldn't hear my interviewer and she couldn't hear me (phone interview), you'll get a picture of how the iview went. Pretty bad. Oh, well, at least my interviewer was nice... ~50 minutes

harvard: This started off with my interviewer getting a parking ticket while waiting for me. But, overall, it went better than the princeton iview... this one was face to face and I wasn't so nervous. ~1.5 hours

I've definitely improved my opinions on both princeton and harvard.

plusqueparfaite: yeah, I don't know what I was thinking when I said pufu-he graduated in '07.

angelutza: at least some accept jan. scores - MIT, hv, princeton ("on a case to case basis"), Caltech said they may accept ... haven't asked the others yet

well, plusqueparfaite,i applied early to dartmouth but they deferred me and i was angry, even if i was kinda expecting it, i had dreamed about it for a couple of days before the decision
and now i applied regular to:harvard, st. john's, vassar, williams, lafayette, grinnell, colgate, mt holyoke, drexel, bard, richmond
so, where are you from ,guys, i'm from bucharest...

Oana, do you happen to be a mathematician? I am from Dragasani, btw.

Edvin, how did you have your Harvard interview? I heard that the guy who used to interview in Romania is now in prison... Did he/she contact you?

I am having my Princeton interview in less than 7 hours and I am starting to freak out.
