So my roommate and I requester Sharp and Monroe and got put in JL. Not to sound stuck up but we really don't want to be in an all girls dorm we want to be around guys and just be in a more social atmosphere. Is there any way we can change rooms??

It’s very difficult, and unfortunately the reality is that with 57% of the class being female and JL being a large dorm, I think something like 25% of the women end up there. However, don’t despair. The other reality is you don’t really spend that much time there (awake) and your social atmosphere will not depend on your dorm assignment. Give it a chance, I think you will see it is no big deal. There are even some advantages to being in JL if you have a lot of classes in Newcomb Hall and some other nearby buildings, but mainly it doesn’t make that much difference.

The same thing happened to me, I didn’t put JL on my list and I got it anyway. The dorm is like right across the street from The Boot though, so the social life can’t be that bad. Also the rooms and closets in JL are the biggest!

Alright thanks guys I feel better!

No some of the most social girls I know live in JL. In reality, it’s just a place to live. It’s really only a problem for girls who sleep around a lot because those are the girls who always have to check boys in and what not. While living in Sharp/Monroe will help you to meet more people, the whole point of the first couple days there is to meet new students. Just be as social as you can!
