I've heard the only negative of the Hyatt is the distance to campus. Supposedly, everything else is great... you would be living at a four star hotel rather then a dorm built in the 1960's.

are you checking in studentlink?

It says I finished the survey, but haven't been assigned a room.

Lots of people have not been assigned yet. But, chances that you'll get Warren is slim by now since most rooms are filled up

humtaro, as a transfer student, it might not be in your best interest to live at Hyatt. There's a reason why BU encouraged soph, juniors and seniors to choose Hyatt and it's so Freshman can actually see what BU really offers in terms of close campus feel. I'd try my best to either get something on campus, maybe Towers/Shelton/Myles, or at least attempt to find a really close off-campus housing. First impressions are everything, and if the first year you are at BU, you have to get back on campus via a shuttle, then you might not enjoy it as much. Plus, Hyatt's community feel is not good for newcomers since you have to keep the doors closed all the time, and people might hate having to find some way to visit you at the Hyatt since it's across the river.

Don't worry Kev, I didn't want Warren even though I put it as my first choice. I wanted Hojo. Because I wanted the lofted bed.

well it's either hyatt or off campus, i can't get any other campus housing.
u said hyatt's far...but don't most off campus ppl live pretty much the same distance or further from campus, like at Allston? perhaps the only difference is that they live on the same side of the river and can use a public transport?

I'm thinking maybe if i got a bicycle, the distance won't really be anything. it's like only 1/4 a mile across the river and maybe another 1/4 to most schools or the sports centre.

^ there's also a shuttle that runs every half hr? hr? or so from the hyatt to bu's east campus. my roommates from last year are living there. the bad thing is you get kicked out second semester into a random dorm. the good thing is you get first choice of dorming the following year :)

also. if you're not a freshman, i HIGHLY HIGHLY advise summer swap. i was in the same position as dj, when i went to my room selection meeting (i'm a rising sophomore) the only dorms with doubles were west, warren, and towers. i ended up at west (my LAST choice because i'm an smg student and smg is like a 20 minute walk from west... and i have no idea what the BU shuttle schedule is) but i applied and now i'm at south campus in a single w/ my roommate next door :)

Man I feel left out. =/ I still don't have a room.

Well i still have not gotten my room assignment....hopefully somehow someone drops out of the school or something and i can get a dorm in warren. (If thats somehow godly possible) I really do not want to get a crappy residence hall that has upperclassmen or something in it during my freshman year. I want to be around other freshmen and people who i know that are going to BU. damn this is messed up...

I'm still waiting for my room too. I didn't really have my heart set on Warren, but I still want a good dorm. How much longer do you think we'll have to wait?

I have no clue, my mind has me thinking that it may be any day now since its like the middle of july already. anyway if they screw me over with housing, you bet i will start a firestorm at their office.

There's not much you can do once you've been assigned a room.

why don't you guys try calling them?

They said they'll be assigning rooms until August, so they're probably just not done assigning us a room yet.

does anyone know if we can loft beds in rich hall (west campus)? and if the desks are movable?

^^No and no. Unless you're in a quad, maybe?

Student Union - Backdoor at BU

The only dorm I've seen with lofted beds is 575 Commonwealth Ave., also called "The HoJo".

warren also has lofted beds if you're in a quad, i lived in one last year. two lofted beds and one bunkbed per room. it's REALLY crowded if you get a quad, so make sure you move the furniture around a bit... it makes it much more livable.

Still no room assignment. I'm worried. =/

Call, nickel, you can find out something. What if there is a hang up? Don't just worry - why not call - you can at least ask them to check on it for you.
