room dimensions Speare

Anyone know how big the rooms are at Speare? I know they are small, but I'm trying to decide what size rug to buy.

i lived in speare for orientation… i didn’t measure it but i would say it’s about 8 ft x 10-12 ft

Don’t buy a rug for Speare before you move in! Lots of rooms have the furniture stuck to the floor in semi-awkward positions. So just because a room is 11 by 8 doesn’t mean you’ll be safe if you buy a 10 by 7 rug. Wait until move-in.

Yeah don’t buy a rug. The furniture in the rooms aren’t the same in all rooms. It’ll be annoying to place it esp when your roommates unpacking.

Speare hall is terrible man. Was there for orientation. ):

What is so terrible about it? How does it compare to the Stetsons? I was there for orientation and it was a small room and hot but it is a freshman dorm.

NONE OF THE DORMS ARE “TERRIBLE”. Please don’t freak out about it. You said it perfectly, “it is a freshman dorm”. So yeah, it’s not great, but you have a dresser and a desk and a/c doesn’t matter for most of the year and you can put in an internet router and you’ve got a bunch of other freshmen all around you. I personally like it a little more then the Stetsons because it’s closer to Hunt (some people dislike it for that reason) and because the walls, while dull and depressing, are less cell-block-like.

I’ve practically lived in Speare all summer, and it’s seriously not that bad. My bf’s biggest complaint (other than the A/C obviously, which won’t be an issue for non-summer residents) was that the furniture is stuck to the ground in his room so he can’t move it around- which is why you shouldn’t buy a rug.

i was actually pleasantly surprised with the room we had. there was a dresser, some room to hang clothes, and some shelves… my roommate and i thought we would be fine if we had to live there for a year…
