So...I've applied to basically all the nescacs, but I'm just kind of finding out that a lot of the schools that I applied to are uber preppy.... See blog (Hey It's Me Elsie)
I know I can't just base this conclusion on just a blog, but are there hipsters/non-preps at Colby?

Colby is a fairly diverse place, although many of the students tend to be active, friendly, and unpretentious. The question is whether these characteristics describe the type of persons and community you seek. I have never met a person who attended Colby and did not love it. That said, it is not known as a hipster school. If you want a “hipster shool,” think about places like NYU, Bard and Vassar. Good luck,

There are definitely hipsters/non-preps at Colby and all the Nescacs despite some stereotypes. If you really want a Nescac school where that vibe is very strong, though, you might want to look at Wesleyan more closely.
