Hi - just wondering where on U of Mich website (or wherever) does my daughter go to look for room swap info??

thanks

housing.umich.edu. At the top in the search bar type in “room swap”.

what dorm does she want to switch out of?

oxford housing

she can always look through the multiple facebook groups in addition to the room swap adds. but seeing as they don’t really have enough space to house the overflow of freshmen, it might be kind of hard to get a swap.

the easiest would be to swap from oxford to north, or to one of the all female dorms on central. but getting to the hill or south/west/east quad might be a challenge

I was assigned to Oxford too and would like to switch to the hill but don’t think it’s possible. As omgitsang said, only people from north would want to switch.

I was assigned Oxford too, wanted to switch, kind of just let that dream die haha. but idk why everyone’s avoiding it like the plague. it can’t be THAT bad right?

It’s not. Please try to avoid convincing yourself that you hate your housing assignment before you even get to campus.

Were it not for the fact that I specifically wanted all girls housing, I would willingly swap into oxford. It is definitely a different experience from what you might get at say, South Quad, but it’s not the end of the world at all. You will still make friends and have a great time. You might be a little cold in winter either walking or waiting for the shuttle, but in Michigan you get used to that pretty quickly. You will be okay!

from what I understand from her now, she is going to stay at Oxford and see what happens…

was she assigned to a double or a quad?

assigned to a double

Since the OP’s question was answered, and specific requests for room swapping are not allowed on College Confidential, I am closing this thread.
