Roomate Issues

Hi, I’m new here.
I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice.
My roommate is moving out next semester, long story short, she was a real terror and her parents decided she needed to move.
That being said, do you think it’s reasonable to ask the housing department if I could possibly stay as a single room? I feel like I’ve had to deal with a lot due to the last roommate. She stole from me, was absolutely filthy—and worst of all, I suffered an anaphylactic reaction to strawberries because she had them all over the room, and I told her multiple times that I’m very allergic to them.
Do you think it’s a reasonable request though to ask if I could possibly stay as a single, being that I’ve had to live in hell the past semester?

Any advice? Thanks!

You can request it, but if they allow, they’ll likely charge you at the rate of a single, not a double.

I would stress your allergy issues and have medical documentation that you had a reaction.
They will charge you for a single, but I would go for it.

If you had an anaphylactic episode I don’t know why you didn’t get on this earlier.

If you had provided the school with doctors info about your condition they should have accommodated you way before that. You need to learn to advocate for yourself if you have as serious an issues as that.

Don’t depend on a roommate’s good will or cooperation in an area like this, you should be in a single.
