roomie?

hi everybody :DD i decided to go to university of minnesota. i might end up in middlebrooks honors dorm thing, but then i might not because i submitted my housing application, like, two days ago so hahahah i might end up with a sucky dorm. well but then again i dont know how good middlebrooks is either (all i know is that its across mississippi river from the psych building(s) o__O) so that'll be alright i guess hahaha. i'd be in a suite. with 2 people. i think. i dont know, that's what i wanted but i wasn't too sure what the choices meant TT so uhhhh i hope "shared suite" means what i meant to say. BUT IN ANY CASE, i was wondering if there were any sites or anything that lets me like ~roommate hunt~? i dont know, i'm from georgia and uga has this 'ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AND WE'LL GIVE YOU A LIST OF PEOPLE THAT ANSWERED THE SAME WAY AS YOU AND YOU CAN CONTACT THEM AND CHOOSE YOUR PREFERENCE.' so likeeee if minnesota has anything similar to that, can anyone give me a hint? ok not a hint-hint, i'm really bad at guessing T_T just tell me the answerrr

or if that site doesnt exist or something, can i get a forum for this university? because i dont think a lot of people come on the collegeconfidential minnesota page.. T_T.

if that doesnt exist either, i guess we can do it here? ok well im korean and i like korean music and i like food of all kinds except curry and cinnamon flavored things and im.. not the best at keeping my room clean hahahaa and i sleep with lights on or off it doesnt matter and id prefer my roomie makin babies SOMEWHERE ELSE other than our room. i dont smoke anything and im scared of needles... oh and i laugh A LOTTTT (ALOTALOTALOT) so if you want a really quiet room id probably not be a good choice T_T. i assume asian room mates would be easier to be with because we'd have somewhat of a more similar culture, but that doesnt matter much to me if it doesnt matter to you :D

ok ta daaaaa the end

okok pm me!!!

(when i first came here, i thought pm meant 'prime minister' and id always see people say 'pm me' and id be like UHH WHAT DOES IT EVEN MEAN TO PRIME MINISTER SOMEONE O_O)

Awkward question, but are you female or male? hahah, my apologies.

ooops did i forget to mention that? im a girl hahahahaha

boopdidoop1…Congrats on your decision to become a Gopher!! You mentioned the Honors Housing at Middlebrook, so can we assume you were invited to join Honors? If so, if you listed (or change your Housing application) to list Honors LLC in Middlebrook as your preference you’re guaranteed to get Honors housing. If you’re not in Honors, you might still get placed in Middlebrook Hall on a space available basis as it’s a pretty large dorm and only certain floor/halls are designated as Honors. There’s really nothing different/special about the Honors LLC other than you’ll be rooming with/surrounded by other Honors students (like-minded students/environment).

The majority of rooms in Middlebrook are 2-person rooms with a physically separate bathroom (usually across the hall) shared between 2 rooms (total of 4 people). This is more than likely the type of room you’ll be placed into. There are a limited number of suites where 4 people share a bathroom as well, but the bathroom is in the suite itself. They are a little more expensive than the regular rooms, but there are much fewer of these than the regular rooms. In D1’s hall (she’s in a regular) there are 8 rooms (16 people) and 4 bathrooms. 4 of the rooms were females, and 4 were males. In the past, the bathrooms were designated for 2 specific rooms to share but our kids were told that any of the bathrooms on the floor (not just their hall) were usable by any of the students on that floor. In practice though, she hasn’t seen anyone other than the students in her hall use their 4 bathrooms and all her hallmates have pretty much used the bathroom across from their dorm room anyway. Co-ed dorm halls haven’t been the norm in Middlebrook as far as I know, so it may just be a function of the numbers of males/females accepted in to Honors. In any case, she didn’t have a problem with it (took me a while to get used to the idea though  ) and sharing a bathroom with 3 other people versus 15-19 is still much nicer. Unless you’re in the suites there will still be common access to the bathroom though, so don’t plan on leaving any of your toiletries in there permanently.

There wasn’t a “roommate matcher” per se in last year’s Housing application other than the series of questions you probably saw this year as well. I believe if you find a potential roommate through other means (Class of 2016 Facebook page, etc) you can each add the other’s student number to your Housing App and request to be roommates, but I’m not sure what the cutoff date is for changing your application. You’ll probably just be matched up semi-randomly (based on your preferences listed on the app) but that’s the way many colleges have done it since the beginning of time and it usually works out just fine. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Congrats again on your decision to become a Gopher!! Good Luck!!
