we need to log into NYUhome to do all those things right?
but when i register for the account, it says i need to go to an ITS facility to confirm activation or something, which is all the way in NY.

Do we need to go all the way there to activate it? because I'm not from NY

Concerning the Q on getting a single, I'm thinking it MIGHT be possible to go around the dorm the first week and ask the people in singles to switch for $$$. I saw you're trying to save, but I have a gut feelin some freshmen would accept less than you would expect )) Not exactly everyone would even want to live in a single, and if you approach the people in the right way you will probably be able to figure smth out...
just an idea, dunno if it's even allowed

actually I don't think that could work because the NYU computer system has you registered to your room. you'd have to change it through NYU, and I don't know if they'd do it unless it's an arrangement they've set up. also the first few weeks are a freeze where no one can switch.
